Life passes by in the blink of an eye. It is so easy to miss the tiny details that make up the existence of the people around us.
My goal with this series was to pause, take a breath, and truly see. Working with these AWP Students and Alumni gave me a factory reset, a moment to reflect on the past, present, and future. And if these young creatives are our future, things are looking up.

What advice do you have for people your age?
"Don't compare yourself to others. Think about what you like about yourself and own it."

"Live life in the moment, there’s a lot of pressure to know exactly what ur future holds but it’s ok to not know everything."

"In order to succeed, you must first believe in yourself. I often forget this. But then I remember this advice and it really helps me focus and deliver."

"Don’t care about what others say about you! You're perfect the way you are!"

What draws you to the performing arts?
"The community is so strong no matter where u go, and the opportunity to tell stories to audiences who need to hear it."

"I like connecting with characters and feeling what they feel. I also love the creative process and the interaction with everyone on set."

How long have you been with AWP and what impact has AWP had on your life?
"A little over a year. I have become a much better actor. I have met such awesome people who are supportive and inclusive. I can be myself around them."

"I was taking classes for about 5ish years. It was a good pushing off point to explore the areas of theater I'm most interested in."
-Lee
"It has been an incredible 1st year so far...already signed up for a 2nd year. Love my AWP Family! I am learning so much everyday. I've not only made many new best friends, but I've also signed with one of the best talent agencies in Atlanta, Atlanta Models & Talent. The crew who run AWP are just the best. I have gotten many bookings and countless auditions. It's excelled my acting career by so much. Thank you AWP!!!"

What are your biggest short and longterm goals?
"To get represented by an agent and be a professional actor."

"Graduate from college with a dual major in stage management and technical production and design. My goal is to stage manage a Broadway show."
-Lee
"To go to Universal Studios for a week or more with my whole family, and have a once in a lifetime experience. To be a professional actor starring in major motion pictures. I would really love to star in horror, action and comedy feature films with famous actors like Ryan Reynolds, Tom Cruise, and Ryan Gosling."

"Learn guitar, to be the main character in a TV show, or on Broadway!"

Where do you find the most joy?
"Singing and chorus with my friends, seeing my family (especially family reunions), talking to my friends, warm hugs."

"I love drawing. I feel like it makes me feel super calm and connected to myself. I love acting too. The way people can make characters in a script come to life in their interpretation of it amazes me."

"Acting! on camera or on the stage!"

What makes you feel the most you?
"When I'm with my best friends acting weird and silly."

"When I have a fresh hair cut and bleach and put on a maxi skirt. Very specific I know but I feel amazing in those days."

"Acting in film and theater with my friends where we all can make magic happen. I can be myself and not be afraid of what others think of me. I feel safe."

"Being around my friends who encourage me to be me!"

If your older self could speak to you right now, what do you wish they would say to you?
"That you will have 3 kids, an awesome husband, get a degree from Harvard, I'm a professional actress, I met Taylor Swift and she married Travis Kelce, and that I kept all my friends from middle school."

"I would want them to tell me if everything I’m doing is leading up to something great."

"Be brave, be confident and always give your best. Stay motivated, contribute and be considerate of the cast and crew. Jump in with both feet and have fun!"

"That the future is exactly how we thought it would be."

"When I'm acting, playing piano, doing Taekwondo, drawing, learning, auditioning for cool roles, and playing with my friends."

What makes you stand out in this industry?
"My freckles, energy, and sense of humor."

"It is my sense of humor and empathy for all kinds of people. I believe in working hard to reach my dreams."

"My work ethic or my sense of humor! But most people would say my hair. 😂"

What is a quote, saying or something somebody said to you that altered your outlook on life?
"Tomorrow is another day!"

"Cogito ergo sum - I think therefore I am."

"Manners maketh the man.' My dad always says this. I always think about it. I apply this philosophy when making new friends, meeting adults, auditioning with casting directions, interacting with my agent, coaches, directors and with everyone on set."

"I think at the stage of my life when I’m always worrying about the past or the future one the best quotes someone has said to me is 'Be present'."

To capture a moment in somebody's life on film is one of my greatest joys. To be truly present with another person is a feeling most humans crave and often struggle to find. Thank you to Kate, Lee, Noah, and Sofia for sharing in a moment of connection and creativity with me. Thank you for sharing your heart, your passion, and most importantly, your time. To see each of you evolve is a gift I shall never take for granted!
